Redefining Success When It Doesn’t Feel Like It - This Doesn’t Feel Like Success (But It Might Be)

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” — Thomas Edison

Opportunity has terrible branding.

It doesn’t arrive glowing, with a clear sign that says: “This is it. Proceed confidently.”

It arrives looking… mildly inconvenient.

A task you didn’t plan for. A step you don’t feel ready for. A moment that asks something from you before it gives anything back. All these lead to success.

And when you’re already tired…already holding a lot…it’s easy to think:

“This can’t be the thing.”

But what if it is?

Business consulting

1. Look for the Quiet Nudge (Not the Loud Signal)

Opportunity rarely shouts.

  • “Maybe I should follow up.”

  • “I could share this idea.”

  • “This might be worth trying.”

It doesn’t feel certain.

It feels… curious.

Follow curiosity before you wait for confidence.

2. Reframe “This Feels Like Work” as “This Is the Doorway”

Of course it feels like work.

Growth requires movement.

But not all effort is misalignment.

Ask yourself: Is this draining… or is it stretching me?

There’s a difference.

One depletes you. The other grows you.

3. Take One Step Before You Decide It’s Not for You - Success

We often reject opportunity before we’ve actually met it.

Instead of deciding too quickly:

  • Try the first step

  • Have the conversation

  • Send the message

Let the experience inform your decision—not just the feeling.

You’re not missing your next level.

You’re being invited into it… quietly.

It might not feel like ease yet. It might not feel like clarity yet.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not the path.

Sometimes the doorway doesn’t look like a doorway…

Until you walk through it.
