How to Live a Life with Purpose: Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln once said, "In the end, it is not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." This statement perfectly encapsulates the importance of living a life with purpose. Too often, we get caught up in the daily grind of work, responsibilities, and obligations, and forget to focus on creating a meaningful life for ourselves. We often forget to explore the importance of living a life with purpose, and how it can positively impact our overall well being.

Live a life with purpose means finding a passion that drives us, and then incorporating that passion into every aspect of our lives. The first definition of passion in the dictionary is strong and barely controllable emotion. Who wants that? But a client showed me another definition in the dictionary: an intense desire or enthusiasm for something.

Much better!! I bet you have something in your life you are enthusiastic about.


This could mean pursuing a career that aligns with our interests, volunteering for a cause that we feel passionate about, or simply finding small ways to incorporate our passions into our daily routines. When we live a life with purpose, we feel a deeper sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, and are more likely to experience feelings of happiness and contentment.


Studies have shown that people who live with a sense of purpose tend to experience better overall health and wellbeing. They are less likely to suffer from depression and anxiety, and are more likely to have lower levels of stress and better sleep quality. Additionally, people who live with purpose tend to have stronger social connections and a sense of community, which can be hugely beneficial for our mental and emotional health.


Living a life with purpose is the key to happiness and fulfillment. When we find our passion and align our lives with our sense of purpose, we experience better mental and physical health, stronger social connections, and an overall sense of wellbeing. By taking small steps to incorporate purpose into our daily lives, we can create a life that feels fulfilling and meaningful, and that adds life to your years.
